Parkside Elementary Kids Heart Health Challenge
Written by Parkside Elementary Students
Hi! My name is Macie and I interviewed Mr. J about a couple things and want to share them with you. The first thing I asked him was, what was your favorite station at Kids Heart Challenge? And he answered, “Rope Climb.” After that I asked him What his favorite activity to teach is and why? Mr. J answered, “Floor Hockey because I am very passionate about Hockey.” The next question I came up with was, what is his favorite thing about Parkside? He replied, “The size because it’s small so the teachers can build a better relationship with the students.”
The fourth thing I asked him was if he was ever a Physical education teacher before coming to Parkside, he said, “Yes.” After the Kids Heart challenge, I was wondering what his favorite thing about the American Heart Association is. Mr. J answered, “Their mission to advocate for healthy living and how it affects the mindset of students all around.” The last question I wanted to ask him was what he likes to do in his free time. Some students might know two out of the three things he said but the third might surprise you. Mr. J said, “Either at a hockey rink, at the track at Sun Valley, or at the shore with my family.” These questions helped me learn a lot about Mr. J. Did you learn something new too?
My Experience of the Kids Heart Challenge
By: Kayleigh Doyle
This year for the Kids Heart Challenge we raised $5,600.76. The FUNdraiser is a fun way to raise money and educate the students about heart health. My experience was the best I've had yet! My team and I had a blast at the rope climbing challenge! My team was me, Alex, Milani and Evan. We really liked the rope climbing challenge. Sadly, I didn't get to the yellow tape. The FUNdraiser was a success! All the kids and even the adults had fun! The kids' heart challenge helped me want to stay active, so I have a healthy heart.
