Parkside Tie-Dye Event
On May 28th, the Parkside Borough Recreation Committee hosted a family- friendly tie- dye event outside Parkside Elementary School. The event was BYOT - Bring Your Own T-Shirt, although many of the Rec Committee volunteers brought extra shirts to share. Volunteers arrived early to set up tables in the Parkside Elementary School parking lot. Residents arrived steadily between 10am and 1pm before the volunteers quickly packed up with the arrival of spring showers Saturday afternoon.
Local resident and artist Beth Hale spearheaded the event as a volunteer on the Rec Committee. She was grateful to see the community come together to provide a fun and creative way to kick off the summer that people of all ages enjoyed.
Councilman and Recreation Committee Chair Michael Costigan arrived early to help set up for the event. “As Recreation Chair, my overarching goal is to bring new, exciting events to our residents. I have also tried to empower our fabulous volunteers to execute their own ideas. Beth Hale presented her tie -dye event as something she wanted to do. Her creativity and passion are what made this event so successful. I am grateful to Beth and to all of our volunteers for their passion and dedication. I couldn’t do it without them.”
Recreation Committee volunteer Sarah Haynes assisted during the event. She adds, “My kids were really excited to turn their old clothes into something new and fun again.
Thank you for bringing this experience to Parkside.”
